Set up a new VM in VMWare Workstation
1. Click on File and choose New Virtual Machine

2. Choose Typical and click Next

3. Click on Browse and navigate to the location containing the ISO that you want to use. Highlight the ISO and click Open.

4. Choose a name for your VM and a location. PLEASE choose a location other than your Documents folder in your OneDrive. When a VM is running the constant changes will cause issues with the OneDrive sync client. We recommend creating a folder in the root of C named something like C:\Virtual Machines as in the clipping below.

5. Choose a password for encryption of the virtual drives and make sure the “Remember the password” box is checked to store it in Credential Manager on your host machine.

6. Choose a virtual disk size in GB. For most VMs a virtual disk size under 100GB will be sufficient and this can always be increased if necessary.

7. Before clicking Finish click on the Customize Hardware button and set your RAM and number of processors.

8. A good place to start is 8GB of RAM and 4 processors. You can set it to 4 processors by any combination of Number of processors and Number of cores per processor that equals 4. We recommend 1 processor and 4 cores per recommendation from VMWare.

9. Click Close and Finish. The installation process will begin.
