How to Split/Reassemble Virtual Machines
How to Compress Virtual Machines into Parts for Upload
Splitting the File into Parts:
- Go to the folder where your virtual machines are located. If you don’t know where they are located, you can go into VMware right-click on a virtual machine and select “Open VM directory.”

2. Notice that the folder that holds your virtual machines opens.

3. Right-click on the virtual machine you would like to compress. Windows 11 users will need to click “Show More Options” If you are still on Windows 10 this step doesn’t apply to you.

3. Hover over the 7-Zip option in the menu and click “Add to archive.”

4. Another window will show up giving us various options.
5. Type in a name for the archive
6. Set the size you want the compression to split normally We suggest you split the files into 4gb parts.
7. Hit “OK” to start the process.
8. At this point you now will want to upload the “part” files to BrickFTP this will save time and prevent unforeseen events that might force you to re-upload the whole virtual machine.
Reassembling the Parts:
- Go to where all the files (either by download or you broke them apart yourself) and you will want to select all the parts then Right-Click --> 7-Zip --> Extract Here

2. After that if you check the properties of the file it should be the same size as the original.
